It's Monday, and the start of the business week. It is also the last week of 2009. Can you believe it? My Nana would always say, "the older you get, the quicker time goes by!" How true Nana.
This Christmas weekend provided some much needed think time to reflect of how our family is changing. We have some Christmas rituals that have since become our Christmas traditions. Not the normal Christmas traditons but they are ours none the less.
It all begins Christmas Eve Day. I usually have so much baking to do. Baking is something that I find very relaxing especially and after all the hustle of the holiday build up. When I worked for the makeup company sometimes Christmas Eve was a work day. Who needed a makeover THAT day? Then again, I wasn't the corporate gal either......company gal YES, corporate gal not at that point!
When our children were younger we would attend the children's Christmas Eve Mass. For those of you who are not of the same faith as I am, this Mass is just for the children as it is centered around them. The children participate in the telling of the nativity story. All of our children and their friends have since grown and are no longer the cherubs walking down the aisle. Now we attend the children's Mass just to watch the younger ones and their proud parents as they process to the alter.
After Mass is over we head out to the local pizza joint and pick up a pizza special. This all started the year I went to Christmas Eve Mass with flour in my hair - thanks to the baking of those M&M cookies I was bragging about a post or two ago....I sometimes think that we are the only family who doesn't serve a roasted something or other on Christmas Eve. Instead we have a slice of pizza and watch a really good Christmas movie. No more flour in this Mom's hair.
My wish is that your Christmas celebration was just as you dreamt it would be!
